The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) is requesting public comments on the current automotive provisions of the USMCA. Under the USMCA Implementation Act and related Executive Order, the USTR is to conduct a biennial review of the automotive provisions of the agreement and report its findings to Congress; this is the first of the these required reviews. The USTR is requesting public input regarding areas such as the current operation of the USMCA, steps taken by automotive companies to demonstrate compliance with the automotive rules of origin, and if the current rules of origin are effective and relevant.
